Mission – Repairing homes, revitalizing communities, rebuilding lives.
Vision – Safe homes and communities for everyone.
The Jersey City affiliate (formerly called Christmas in April Jersey City) is one of the 200+ nation-wide affiliates of the largest, non-sectarian, nonprofit, home rehabilitation organization in the United States. The all-volunteer organization works in collaboration with communities and local businesses to rehabilitate owner-occupied, low-income homes. In 2017, Rebuilding Together nationally rehabilitated more than 10,000 homes and non-profit facilities, featured 300,000 skilled and unskilled volunteers who donated their time and skills in communities across America, and delivered millions of dollars in market value – at no cost to the owners.
The Jersey City chapter began in 1991. Over the past 28 years, Rebuilding Together Jersey City has made more than $3 million dollars worth of improvements to more than 330 homes and community facilities.
Rebuilding Together Jersey City believes in a safe and healthy home for every person. This means that we believe disabled and aging homeowners should be able to remain in their homes for as long as possible. We believe that our nation’s veterans with disabilities deserve safe and accessible homes. Rebuilding Together believes we can preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities by providing free home modifications and repairs, making homes safer, more accessible, and more energy efficient.
